November 28th, 2009
Chicago Pizza, sometimes known as deep dish, has been around since 1943. Soldiers who had served in Italy during World War II, brought home a taste for Pizza and an enterprising guy names Ike Sewall started serving a deep-dish pie at his Pizzeria Uno restaurant. Demand for the pizza was so great that before long Sewall’s invention was being served at Pizzeria Due, Gino’s Pizza, and Gino’s East.
